This thesis collection is an expression of my roots as a Jewish Orthodox woman. The collection remains true to traditional Orthodox standards of modest dressing, while simultaneously redefining what it means to dress modestly: with elegance, grace, and ingenuity. Inspired by the fluid motion of rain and ink, each piece embodies the essence of fluidity, with cascading silhouettes and dynamic patterns that evoke the ever-changing movement of raindrops and the captivating swirls of ink on parchment.

Embodying an ethereal essence, this collection transcends the ordinary and was inspired by the journey from self-doubt to self-empowerment. Muted tones and intricate details weave narratives of ancient lore and futuristic uncertainty, while natural textiles and repurposed materials reflect a vision where beauty meets functionality. Designed for seamless interchangeability, each piece forms a versatile capsule wardrobe, fostering endless possibilities in self-expression.

The inception of my thesis arose from the parts of Emily Dickinson’s life that were seen as “unconventional” for the mid-1800s, focusing on the push and pull of her wanting fame and success, her “reclusive'' nature, and her relationship with her best friend Sue. Through the shape and structure of my garments I brought my inspiration to life. Emily Dickinson’s poetry is evocative and beautiful and has inspired me tremendously throughout this process.

Fear of Artificial Intelligence, or FOAI, focuses on the extreme growth in the complexity of Artificial Intelligence--or, as I call it, the Digital Devil. AI was originally created to replicate humans, but has now shifted to AI replacing humans. This human-like technology has developed immensely throughout the years, to the point where now AI-powered robots exist. It is only a matter of time until these robots dominate humanity.

La Gâchette, which means "the trigger" in French, is inspired by medieval archers. Imagine a traveler who has to grapple with the freedom and danger of moving from town to town. They walk, escaping the dangers of the night, using the archer's hood to hide their identity from other travelers on the road. Lost, they pluck their bowstring. This, however, is not medieval France, this is life in the big city.

Fish Tank is a euphemism for life inside a densely populated area. The core philosophy of the collection is to blend style and function by offering garments that are visually appealing and assist the wearer in navigating a fast-paced, ever-changing urban environment. My collection provides a lifestyle solution by combining performance-oriented textiles with strategically placed utilitarian features.

The theme of this collection is rooted in the concept of polar opposites, reflecting the fundamental duality present in the universe. It juxtaposes dominant black leather with delicate nudish-pink sequined tulle fabric, oversized and tight silhouettes, as well as pleated and draped details in black and pink. This fusion harmonizes contrasting elements, illustrating the necessity of balance in life where opposites attract, embodying the timeless notion of duality in all things.

My collection is the story of a designer facing limitations due to social expectations and breaking through to find her true self. Building was used as a metaphor for her story: cracks in the building as her persona and the interior structure as her ego. The first look, reflecting the designer's persona, is heavily focused on deconstructed tailoring to symbolize the fragmented aspects of her outward image. Conversely, the second look, shows her ego's softer, more genuine layers using drapes, sheers, and neutral tones.

The collection is about the broken self and apotheosis, exploring the mental pain and agony that happens when a person goes through a transitional period. Paradoxical aspects of the silhouettes and patterns suggest the contradiction between desiring to become godlike and seeking to remain grounded. Heavy, grotesque texture juxtaposed with delicate fabrication symbolizes the fragile human container (skin).

The collection shows an appreciation for the effort it takes to find your way to a new or final destination.

Beauty in Complexity is a collection exploring how intersecting strings can create fascinating patterns, whether in art, weaving, or everyday happenings. The interconnected nature of things is a huge part of the inspiration for my thesis. These different knotted strings represent how complex each of our lives can be. There is beauty and clarity in the spaces between the strings. And when the strings come together, they form a cohesive, beautiful structure.

Behold-Her is a collection that focuses on the celebration of the female form and the reclamation of her sexuality. I was inspired by abstract nude paintings that depict the natural curvature of women with fluid, loose brushstrokes in a serene tone. This imagery reflects the openness and freedom women have in their own skin, a strength I emulate through intentionally placed cutouts and curved seam lines that enhance the body.

This collection is inspired by a vampire punk-inspired aesthetic, which felt right as I was named after a vampire from my mother's favorite book (Blood and Gold by Anne Rice). The vampire not only represents my namesake but also societal outcasts who are pre-judged as malicious and unwanted simply for expressing themselves in a style that is off-kilter, much like those who were a part of the punk movement. This collection explores genderless design. Fluidity, love, and confidence. Coming through in bold fashion.

For my thesis, I explore the traditional and cultural Dominican values that I grew up on. I also connect my Dominican heritage to the New York City culture that also raised me. I come from an immigrant family that migrated to the Lower East Side of NYC in the 1960s. Early on in my career, I unknowingly blended these two different aspects of my cultural experience through my designs. Dios, Patria, y Libertad is my perspective on the elements that make me who I am.

Mexico Through a Lens is an exploration of memories, textiles, materials, handicrafts, and cultural heritage. It is woven with sustainable alternatives, androgyny, and sophisticated silhouettes, creating wearable art that redefines masculinity and showcases my beloved Mexico. My thesis explores the lines between tradition and a future driven by experimental techniques. Mexico Through a Lens reconsiders often-overlooked Mexican design, which is full of rich art, tradition, and novel approaches to fashion.

My thesis collection shines a light on the complex journey a black woman faces when navigating societal expectations, an experience that leads to isolation, misunderstanding, and confusion. Despite this she emerges feeling empowered, seen, and beautiful. This change symbolizes a rebirth as she sheds her old self and embraces her purpose. This metamorphosis mirrors a caterpillar’s transition to a butterfly. The black woman discovers her innate beauty and strength, spreading her wings confidently as she embraces all facets of her identity.

My collection is inspired by the naturalness of island living and the serenity and peacefulness of the lifestyle. Having spent several years living in the Dominican Republic, I am very inspired by the inherent beauty of the island. Through the use of hand-knotted macramé details made of natural cotton yarn and coffee-dyed wooden beads, I aim to express the delicateness of the natural world.

My thesis collection started from examining chaos theory and its explanation of the order in disorder. By exploring harmony within chaos, I demonstrate, through design, how unpredictable and disordered elements can create a unique order. This not only mirrors the complexity of human experiences, but also embraces the beauty of imperfection and fluidity.

My thesis collection, Unlearning, unravels the thought process of children with obsessive compulsive disorder. My collection utilizes bold geometric shapes, 3D fabric manipulation, and self-designed prints. This conceptualizes what it feels like to be stuck in this pattern of thinking and how it alters ones reality. Unlearning seeks to unveil and find beauty in the way a brain with OCD develops.

Following the life of a stranger through recovered 1960s Kodak slides, this collection is a memento for the perception of life. By evaluating the pictures of someone I have never met, I am able to see someone else's life from my own perspective. This leads to me to question how people perceive each other. We selectively share moments of our lives with the world. This collection commemorates the beauty of shared memories.

This collection, which embraces vintage textiles and upcycled materials, aims to empower individuality, self-expression, and ethical fashion. Inspired by the history of the Arts and Crafts movement, which parallels the present-day need for authenticity and craftsmanship in an industry struggling with trend cycles and overproduction. Through this blend of past and present, I am advocating for a conscious shift towards a more sustainable and authentic fashion future.

East and West have always influenced each other, even when separated by distance or politics. My mission is to contribute to the fashion industry by breaking down the barriers that separate the West and East; instead, highlighting their mutual influence. I believe the fusion of cultural elements creates a unique and harmonious aesthetic that transcends borders. This collection seamlessly blends aesthetics, incorporating intersectional silhouettes to create pieces that belong everywhere.
