Summary/Artist Statement
This plush character was made as part of the Soft Toy and Doll Design course in the FIT Toy Design program. We were tasked with creating an original character with an accompanying storybook and then construct them as feature plush prototypes.
Toy Genre: Plush
Artist Statement:
As a mixed ethnicity child, I really struggle with feeling out of place all the time- until I realized that my uniqueness was a strength and not a weakness. Odette is inspired by my child self- undeniably cute and sweet, but difficult to tell what type of animal she is. In her world, everyone is a specific type of animal- except for her, and there is no one out there that looks just like her. Through her story, she finds community in others who are different.
