The preservation of kinetic sound through sound machines called Nothing to one. Playing disruptive familiar sounds from different times and infusing objects that can’t be specified.
"The disappearance of analog sound is distressing because new media has no charm. The human experience is rooted in tangibility, touch and material presence—the jingle of a baby’s first rattle, the winding of a toy car or the crackle of a radio. These small sounds may seem trivial but they once were significant in shaping cultural memory and media intimacy. Digital reproduction cannot replicate this emotional experience of fleeting sound—its fragility and imperfection. Their physical resonances are lost to the digital void, made less human. The human experience relies on collection—on sorting, touch and intimacy. Imagine life without the lust of music, the sound of lullabies fading and cuckoo clocks with no bird peaking out. Sheer excitement would be diminished in a world without sonic joy.” - Genre: Sound Machine Sculptures
