- Summary/Artist's Statement
- Coming from a very small town and being very shy, design was a way to show who I was and express myself. I taught myself how to sew and I would create my own clothes to wear to school using very elegant fabrics. I have used my time at FIT to take the Haute Couture certificate program and use what I have learned in those courses in all of my designs. My designs and ideas are very unique, always looking for a way to take a design and make it sophisticated and elegant while adding in Haute Couture principles such as embellishments or construction details. My career aspiration is Haute Couture evening wear and bridal design.
- Image 1: This collection is inspired by Faberge Eggs and The Romanov Dynasty and is an exploration of my deep interest in haute couture techniques and embellishments. The ensemble includes a hand-ruffled cape, crepe bodice, sheer chiffon, and organza overskirt, and satin pants highlighting self-made flowers at the side seam and hem.
- Image 2: Side view of satin-backed crepe bodice displaying the floor-length sleeves. The outer sleeve showcases hand-crafted flowers. Satin pants display the custom flowers at seam and ankle.
- Image 3: Back view showcasing the upper bodice novelty fabric. Floor length exaggerated satin backed crepe sleeves embellished with multiple colors of satin flowers. Gold satin pants with flower accents.
- Image 4: Closeup details of the metallic organza cape designed using 30 yards of self-created and individually sewn ruffles onto the crepe with gold clasp closure on the front.
- Image 5: Full view of floor length exaggerated sleeves displaying the inner and outer sleeve fabrics. The satin back crepe pants embellished with crepe flowers along hem and side seam.
- Video: Video demonstrating the movement of the garments. The flow of the exaggerated sleeves along with the movement of the ruffled cape and overskirt in motion.
