- Summary/Artist's Statement
- I enjoy creating artworks focusing on fantastical human and animal characters, and exploring the boundaries between them. I draw inspiration from the whimsical, otherworldly, and unknown present in sources of mythology across the world and history. I create illustrated works which allow a passageway into the lives of the fantasy characters that would otherwise have lived inside my head undisturbed. Here is one such private moment, illustrating a moment between two of my characters, a human and her fallen guardian angel, as they spend what might be their last night on earth together. The work illustrates how someone who has the potential to fly and soar might choose to be weighted to the earth by a commitment to that which they love and adore, but can also never follow them skyward.
