- Abstract
- This paper explores what is Modern Chinese style Illustration[国风插画] today and how it influenced by techniques, modeling and element selecting in traditional Chinese Paintings of Gong Bi Figures painting[工笔人物画], Gong Bi Hua Niao[工笔花鸟] (Flower and Birds Painting), and Shan Shui w[山水](Mountain and Streams Painting).
- For an extended period, Chinese painting attached great importance to the inheritance of existing knowledge. At the same time, it gradually added many new branches. To this day, many artists still exploring those skills and also other traditional aspects of Chinese Culture, trying to integrate their understanding into what they have learned to renew the style. The illustrators in China eventually developed a new kind of illustration, which called Modern Chinese style illustration[中国风插画].
- This paper will try to identify what Modern Chinese style illustrations inherit Chinese traditional painting from three directions as the starting point---techniques, modeling, and elements selecting. How does contemporary Chinese illustrators who influence by it creating new works with a unique style. Summarize the characteristics of Chinese style illustration, briefly understand how it has developed and become a trend in the Chinese market. how Chinese consumers and companies have responded to this new style, and why. Finally, the possible future of this new kind of Illustration.
