I always want to figure out who I am under this body that everyone can see. I believe we all have deeply hidden lust, greed, ambition, goodness. This is like imagining dissecting myself, from the middle out, to see what is hiding. When I try to see through myself, I feel I can only see a looming shape, like a shadow. It is always changing and I may never figure it out, but I think this is very interesting and I want to express this feeling in my design.

A fragile bloom is a metaphor for the transient beauty of nature, evoking a sense of both ephemerality and exquisite fragility. Drawing inspiration from the art of ikebana, the collection embraces the beauty of imperfection and asymmetry, with each piece reflecting the unique and imperfect beauty of the natural world. Each piece of clothing in this collection is carefully crafted to reflect this delicate balance—with feathery dressed denim, layered delicate lace, and decaying floral motifs.

Inspired by the words in my great-great-grandmother’s book comparing her life to a tapestry of memories, “Sentimental Fool” explores the concepts of sentimentality and memory through the use of traditional couture handcraft techniques and softened historical silhouettes. Screen printing and embroidery are utilized in order to memorialize various quotes from the book, while many details, such as lines and tucks, serve as symbols of the repetition and simultaneous inconsistency of memories.

Recollection of My Childhood is inspired by clothes hanging on the clothesline between the trees in our yard. I grew up with a family of 13 in a huge house. On laundry day, colorful clothes were piled up in baskets and a variety of styles, textures, patterns, and sizes were hanging on the clothesline. One could get a glimpse of the family's taste by looking at the clothes fluttering on the clothesline. This collection creates unique looks through unexpected combinations.

People have a desire to achieve self-fulfillment. Sometimes, although they want to achieve it, they cannot do so because of their current circumstances. They may feel separation and frustration. In an ideal environment, people try to attain what they want. That is human instinct. However, they are stuck between fear and freedom. Past memories can be a fundamental basis for future self-fulfillment, and it seems that memories are closely connected with each other. In short, self-fulfillment and memory are interconnected.

Coming from conservative Korean culture, this collection questions what is appropriate and what is inappropriate to wear, based on gender stereotypes. The collection is inspired by the artist Hannah Wilke, whose work is focused on female genitalia, which is considered the most inappropriate part of a woman’s body to be exposed. By exposing different areas of the body, we begin to question the concept of what is appropriate/inappropriate and what is acceptable/unacceptable in Korean society.

Unity is a collection that blends the elements that society has constructed that distinguish us by race, culture, gender, and social class. These elements begin to morph into nothingness to remind society that we are all one, one consciousness, but with different perspectives.

Having been raised on the seaside, it felt almost inevitable that the collection would translate the natural forms I was surrounded by: waves, dunes, surf breaks. Through constant experimentation with juxtaposing mediums, the garments move with the same intensity, twisting and turning against the body in an endless tango of structure/collapse. I merge the familiar shapes of the sea to make garments that look as if they were floating in some otherworldly place, capturing the body in an intimate way.

Sardines by the Handful is influenced by endless, shoe-free summers growing up along the Costa Brava, bathing in the sea, and spending whole days and nights outside. This collection reflects the playfulness and freedom we have as children, translated through color blocking, whimsical pattern pieces, and flirty silhouettes. I created the feeling of buoyancy that one feels in the ocean through my choice of textures and material, with brightness and a pursuit of pleasure.

For inspiration, I’ve delved into much of the subject matter of fantasy novels written by women. One topic that authors must feel they can only express with imagery beyond our physical world is female rage.

My thesis is inspired by my physical and emotional homecoming into the natural world. Through reconnecting with a childhood spent exploring the Maine woods, I have delved into the textures and shapes that make up the forest floor. I've married these shapes with the body to create an homage to the childlike wonder of exploring the forest.

My thesis collection is my way of exploring my personal experience with coming out, gender expression, and the transformation that has taken place over the years. My collection talks about who I was, who I am, and who I want to be. Since I am entering a new chapter of my life after graduation, I wanted to be nostalgic for the past while celebrating the present and feeling optimistic about the future.

Donna by De Levante celebrates the accomplishments and life of my mother Donna de Levante. It reflects and reimagines Dr. Donna de Levante's style in the 1990s and 2000s, while capturing the glamour and street style of the hip hop and R&B culture during that time. It is the embodiment of femininity, confidence, and rebellion—just like Donna.

The Shear Wool Collection is inspired by my affinity for wool textiles and my fascination with the process in which wool is developed. My passion for wool is rooted in both its sustainability—as it is biodegradable, renewable, and recyclable—and in its unique texture and tactile experience. My collection features wool in its many forms, from raw wool, spun yarns, and shearling, to tufted panels, encompassing the many states of wool from a freshly sheared sheep to a well-worn winter coat.

Pulling from experiences of contemporary dance, this collection is inspired by the feeling of being lost in movement, when the mind leaves the body and only the motion remains. With a focus on clean, pure shapes and a nod to traditional tailoring techniques, each piece is created with a focus on how it feels when it is worn and how it moves on the body. Timeless, yet modern, structured and soft, this collection is ideal for a creative, urban customer who wants clothing that moves with them.
