My senior thesis collection, Raíces (roots), is a love letter to where I come from and the people who shaped me. Growing up in Costa Rica, I was always surrounded by nature, but more than that, I was raised in a family where plants were not just fixtures; they were a way of life. My grandma, and my mom both pour their love for nature into their art, and without even realizing it, I absorbed that same passion. This collection of espadrilles and handbags, is my way of honoring both my homeland and my family. Using natural materials inspired by Costa Rican natural resources, Raíces is a reflection of where I come from and the creative legacy that runs through me.

Renewability has been an important topic of conversation within many facets of our lives. We as people have an excess of products of all kinds that we are not entirely sure what to do with. When the life of a product is over, most times they are not fit to be used again. While we have found some ways of reusing some items that we are constantly using, there is still a long way to go in figuring out how we can get the absolute most of all we have. The Siren Song collection incorporates renewability within the designs to give folks real practical ways of giving new purpose to items that seem at the end of their road. Inspired by retired R-32 NYC MTA trains dropped in the ocean to promote coral reefs, this collection introduces innovative ways to breathe new life into the things that seem to be useless.

Drawing inspiration from my recent scuba diving adventures and encounters with bioluminescence in the Andaman Islands, as well as the mesmerizing whale shows in Orlando, each accessory unveils the hidden secrets of the sea.

Through a fusion of footwear, bags, and heels, this collection transforms my underwater experiences into tangible statements of elegance and wonder. From luminescent accents that echo the glow of bioluminescent organisms to bold silhouettes reminiscent of the majestic whales, each piece embodies the essence of the ocean's mysteries.

As the wearer adorns these accessories, they step into an imaginative, fantastical world where the boundaries between reality and fantasy blur.
